“ #YelpsBigNightIn REVIEW: Saturday night, we picked up dinner from Novelty Burger and Bar. I placed the order through the Yelp app and it was super easy. We ordered: - Seasonal Greens Salad (large) - Mozzarella sticks - Veggie Burgers with Fries - Slow Oven Baked Crispy Wings - one order of buffalo and one order of BBQ I was craving their buffalo wings, which is what I normally get, but wanted to try out their BBQ ones (something different for Yelps Big Night In, I guess). I was a fan - not too saucy and good flavor. Also tried out the mozzarella sticks, which are huge and come with marinara sauce on the side. So, my dude is vegetarian, and it's always iffy with burger joints, but Novelty has a veggie burger that he likes - it's not a patty but a full-on portobello mushroom (he's a fan of these kind of veggie burgers more, and not a fan of impossible burger, imitation-meat type patties). The portobello mushroom is stuffed with cream cheese, which is nice against the pepperiness of the arugula greens on top and the sweetness of the soft brioche bun (plus, the tangy sauce on the side that you can add to your liking). I'm not a vegetarian, and I like the Veggie Burger. We didn't order this item yesterday but we also are a fan and occasionally will get an order of Spicy Fries to split between the two of us. Anyway, everything ordered Saturday is recommended! They also have chicken sandwich and pizza and other menu items, as well as tasty drinks (if you drink alcohol). Note: When you pick up from Novelty these days, you need to enter through the Mercato Pie doorway. Also, please wear a mask and gloves to protect yourself and the hard working staff there. Let's be safe out there and take care of each other. ”
“ We were here for a TWICE concert on a Sunday (totally forgot most places are either closed or have weird hours). So, to avoid the hot Sun until the concert started, we ate at Novelty Burger. I loved our waitress, she was so bubbly and when I asked for a recommendation, she guessed the 2 that I liked (narrowed it down prior to her arrival). She was even more bubbly and cuter after I commended her on her guess. The Novelty Burger was a burger at it's simplest, buns, patty and misc. veggies. The highlight is the Novelty sauce which is very similar to the sauce and way my dad makes burgers. Great place, great food and price. The waitress was awesomely cute and bubbly, wish more servers were like her! ”
“ Novelty Burger and Bar is right near the Prudential Center in downtown Newark. Stopped in for lunch today. Sat at the bar. I was immediately greeted in a very friendly manner. I started out with a Gingerale. To my delightful surprise, crushed ice instead of regular cubes were in my soda. Crushed ice in my drink brought back memories of how soda used to be served! Next, I checked out the menu. The menu had quite a variety of burgers. The brie burger really caught my attention. Of course, I ordered it. The burger came exactly cooked "medium" as requested. Tasty Toppings were Brie cheese, bacon and onions. I think it could've used a little bit more brie cheese. However, one can never have enough brie cheese!!! Anyway, the Brioche bun was nice and fresh. I did receive a side of french fries. The fries were pretty good but could've been a little warmer. Service throughout my meal was very good. I really enjoyed my lunch experience at Novelty Burger and Bar. Would definitely return!!! ”
“ Burger was a normal, no fuss burger...the novelty sauce (on the side) made it extra tasty. Ordered takeout, and it came with a lot of fries!! My only complaint was the cole slaw. Probably the worst cole slaw I've ever had. Paid $1.50 for it... meh, I'll live. The restaurants are all linked together: Novelty Burger with Mercato Tomato Pie, and Noodle Shop. When I went in to pick up my order, I was sent to Mercato. Interesting. Doesn't really change my life in anyway, but interesting, nonetheless. ”
